Good for lego technic fans by K. Kandemir
I have started to play (or “design” ) with lego technic when I was 7 years old. In 3 years time, my parents bought me several kits, like 8868, which is still one of the best kits that Lego ever made.

Lego technic has even influenced my carreer, directing me to be a mechanical engineer.

Inevitably, my addiction has unwanted effects-like loosening- on some lego parts, gears especially. Apart from degredation, sometimes the number of gears limits my imagination, which is really annoying…

Therefore, I usually buy spare lego parts. This set is suitable for lego technic collectors like me. And also I should express my pleasure on the speed of the trade.

Almost 30 years ago, my parents got me the Lego Expert Builder Idea Book (#8888). I had a couple of the Expert Builder (later to be called Technic) kits at the time and dove in to the projects. However, the beautiful backhoe shown on the cover was out of my reach.

Sure, I could’ve gotten around not having tracks by making mine wheeled. But the killer was some of the gears required. Particularly, the two large gears and two large control wheels (I only had one of each). And so, that project stayed out of my grasp for a long, long time.

We all have projects that usually require those extra few gears to make the whole thing run. And for that, this little set of gears is a real treasure! You get such a nice variety of gears (including those parts that gave me such trouble years ago) and even a large turntable gear!

I see me buying some more of copies of this set in the future and if you’re into Technic or Mindstorms, you owe yourself one or two of these. Now, where did I put that Idea Book…?
